HARRISBURG, Pa. (Oct. 20, 2016) – The following statement can be attributed to PSCOA President Jason Bloom:
“This audit clearly shows that our officers are grossly outnumbered. “We know and accept that our jobs are dangerous, but the statistics released today by Auditor General DePasquale reveal a desperate need for the commonwealth to do a much better job in protecting its officers. That starts with giving us the backup we need. The General Assembly can also help by immediately passing House Bill 2084 in the waning days of his legislative session, which will provide our officers with the ability to carry pepper spray. It’s one more advantage we could desperately use in our daily interactions with the most dangerous criminals in Pennsylvania.”
