Shifting into adulthood and entering the professional workforce can seem terrifying and unachievable at times. When I first started crafting my resume and began applying for internships, I felt like my life was flashing before my eyes. The future scared me, and I didn’t know if I could handle it. My inner fear was beginning to hold me back.
My advice to you: Don’t shy away from change. Say “yes” – it will change your life.
While it may seem cliché, or maybe even too simple, saying yes and taking on a big change in life will be the best thing for you. And yes, you’re ready for it. The phrase “fake it till you make it” has a lot of truth to it, believe it or not.
Never be afraid to ask questions. This is key to your success! Something as simple as loading a client’s social media into Hootsuite can spark questions, or maybe even how to work the printer. That being said, it is okay to make mistakes. You’re human, right? There is no such thing as a perfect person. It’s only normal to make mistakes, and in most cases, it’s actually encouraged!
Always be a leader. If the opportunity presents itself, step out of your comfort zone and take charge. You can do it, I promise you! However, it’s important to remember that leadership comes in many different forms. There isn’t necessarily a format for being a leader. Taking charge of a project can often lead to new opportunities that will change your life personally and professionally.
Take risks! You will likely not get as much out of life if you always play it safe. The world is yours, so be sure to take advantage of it. Remember, no regrets!
I hope these few bits of advice inspire you to get out there and make great things happen. It worked for me, so I have no doubt it will work for you. You got this!
